On October 20, a major outage deprived many French customers of card payments, cash withdrawals and bank transfers, and Revolut found itself at the center of the month's fintech news. The incident served as a reminder of how critical neobanks have become to users' everyday lives. At the same time, Wero continues to roll out in France with new announcements on the merchant and bank side, positioning this European payment wallet as the main challenger to existing payment solutions. For its part, Qonto announced on October 7 its transformation into an “AI-native” fintech, a strategic shift widely covered across the ecosystem. Lydia, now renamed Sumeria, and Kriptown were among the players highlighted at the French FinTech Weeks, while October, Rosaly and Virgil were also cited there. Société Générale's sale of Treezor has reignited the debate over French fintech infrastructure, and BoursoBank has been folded into the group's digital asset reallocations. French fintech is therefore advancing on two fronts, balancing product innovation with the restructuring of banking assets.
