Paris has just endured a grueling week for shared mobility: nearly a thousand self-service bikes were destroyed during violence, and the Lime, Voi and Vélib' fleets were hit hard. Damage to Lime vehicles, along with looting and arson targeting Vélib', has put equipment security back at the heart of the urban debate.
Dott, for its part, must cope with losses weighing on its business in the capital, while the question of removing scooters from the streets is back on the table. Further afield, Bolt, Tier and Cityscoot remain reference names in shared scooters and mopeds, while the government wants to impose helmets on electric scooter riders without managing to extend that requirement to cyclists. Zity, Yego and Free2move continue to embody shared urban uses, from mobility to city car rental.
The sector is thus caught between vandalism, financial losses and tougher regulation, forcing operators to justify the presence of their fleets in cities. For French shared mobility, the stakes now go beyond growth: they concern equipment protection and credibility with public authorities.
