AutoScout24 reports strong demand for used electric cars, while AUTO1 Group recorded another decline in used car prices in September. That puts noticeable pressure on dealers, while buyers can likely expect better terms.
mobile.de continues to expand its market position and, with the announced acquisition of Carwow.de, is advancing the takeover of another comparison and sales portal. Carwow itself remains in demand for the sale and purchase of used cars, while wirkaufendeinauto.de and Autohero, both AUTO1 Group brands, cover the buying and selling business. With new figures for October, DAT provides fresh guidance for the trade, carVertical is focusing on transparency with mileage checks, LeasingMarkt.de, a subsidiary of AutoScout24, complements the leasing segment, and pkw.de is returning as a competitor.
The used car market is thus increasingly shaped by platforms and dealers that compete on trust and inspection reliability. Those who convincingly combine price transparency, vehicle inspection and convenience are likely to win over customers in a market with falling prices.
